Michael Rozzi's first Batter Bowl listed on Etsy sold so fast...

 *****
We were so excited to see how quickly Mike's 1-Qt batter bowl sold through our Etsy site. We listed it on the 12th and it sold within 24 hours. I should be surprised, it's a great piece to have and use. It is functional and beautiful; two qualities important to me. The ergonomic hand-feel is amazing.

Update: We got some feedback from the customer who bought this batter bowl.
She wrote:  Stunningly Beautiful. Perfect in every way. Love this. Thank you Stacey B.

We are listing a few more of his batter bowls on the Etsy site. I hope they sell as well as this one.

We live in Steeler Country!

It's a Steeler Home Game Weekend in the city...
Steelers play the Washington Redskins this Sunday.
It is serious business.

This is the official Steeler mascot, Steely McBeam.
(He kind of looks like that handsome guy from Mad Men, don't you think?)

This is the outside of the Steeler Locker Room.
Unfortunately, it was empty of Steelers the night we were able to tour it.

It's pretty huge. The story is, no one walks over the Steeler symbol on the floor, no one.
It's a big room, so there's plenty of room to avoid stepping on it.

This guy walked all around it.

This locker was set up with Big Ben's helmut and jersey.
We were able to sit and pose and pretend we were Big Ben getting ready for a big game, kind of.

This is the view the Steelers see when they bust out of their locker room to play a game. It was pretty awesome.
Even in the dark...

Above is a replica of the Vince Lombardi trophy.
The walls are decorated with the Steelers' storied history.

The executive Steeler offices with amazing memorabilia.
The Steelers make our city proud.

An oldie but a goodie...

I love this picture of Stella. It was taken a long time ago ( I think 2007 if the pot is anything to go by) but like our pottery, it's a classic image that has stood the test of time.

Speaking of our classic pottery , we got an order today from a customer we hadn't heard from since 2007. She had placed her first order with us Aug 2002, and her last order with us was from Aug 2007. She said the weddings had slowed down some since she had first placed her order, but she had one coming up this August and called us. I was so glad she had kept us in mind. It's customers like her that make what we do such a pleasure.

A Celebration in Black...

Our friend Theresa loves the color black.
And because she loves black, he loves black.
So, we did a special project and personalized some pots in black glaze for her.
She is that special.

We'll miss you Jack.

Waxing & Lining

Waxing the bottom of the pots helps keep glaze from melting and sticking to the kiln shelves.
Each line is hand painted on each pot.

Cobalting...

It's hard to believe the tools you have to combat a kiln load of freshly bisqued pots include a tiny bowl of cobalt and an eye-dropper.
Each letter, logo, and number gets filled with an eye-dropper.
It's a precise (and daunting) process, especially when in a hurry.
It helps to have your own personal cheerleader sitting behind you cheering you on.

Studio Life

It's still sad to see our little stellar without her mom.
It's hard to get used to.
I can only imagine what she thinks about it.
He looks so handsome in this picture, doesn't he?
Those eggflats don't cut themselves. It's a messy dusty job.
 An experiment by Mr. X

As are these....he's always up to something.

April 16th: Opening Day of Trout Season!

Tomorrow is opening day of trout season.
How do we know?
Gear gets pulled and aired out daysssss in advance.
It's one of the first signs of spring for us here.
The pottery studio carts and shelves seem to be as good a place as any to prep the fishing gear. I'm sure it's appreciated at home.

We're also fishing for new ideas at the studio. Some of them are looking really good.

And, wedding season is kicking into gear. That's also another sign of spring.
The loads are filling up fast.
Other signs of spring in Pittsburgh...
