I got my very own personalized wedding gift  made personally by Walt Zotter when I got married. 

It is one of my most treasured items. When our last anniversary came around, I took the opportunity to look at our wedding picture and Zotter The Potter crock I got as a wedding gift. I try very hard to take the time every anniversary to do so. Both bring with them a flood of memories, the same happy memories and wonder I hope our customers and gift recipients feel when they look at theirs. So much has happened since the time I got my gift; so much history under the bridge. 

My wedding day was a happy day surrounded by 

many loved friends and family,  some who are no longer with us. I am so glad we were able to share our day with them. Fun Fact: We got married twice in one day in Vegas!  We only celebrated our sixth anniversary this past year. I know because I still count from the date I see on our wedding crock. I can only imagine how I'll feel when I look at our wedding photo and wedding crock on our 10th, 15th....20th anniversary. We've been getting requests for smaller dog bowls.

Glaze Day

It's time again for another glaze fire.

Each pot has to be dipped in our glaze mix first.

Let's take a moment to notice Mike's mustache.

He's been working on it for months.

 After each pot is hand-dipped in glaze, the glaze has to be carefully wiped off each bottom.

Any glaze left on the bottom of a pot can meld it into the kiln shelf when firing.

 It's hard to get Jenna to pose for a picture, but I got an action shot.

One of the biggest benefits of using stoneware ceramic is that it is very clean and hygienic. They are super easy to wash and don’t suck up chemicals and toxins.

Stoneware ceramic is also handy for popping into the dishwasher. The heat of the dishwasher will kill any bacteria or germs and mean that the dish will be completely clean.

This large personalized pet bowl is a great size for medium to large dogs.

We are lucky to be able to bring our dogs to the pottery studio.

I'm even luckier because I get to keep one right next to me in an extra desk drawer.

We put a little cushion in there to make it a little more comfortable.

 She thinks it's more comfortable than this cushy dog bed.

 Which means nothing because he thinks the concrete floor is more comfortable than the dog bed too.

He likes roughing it.

 I really liked this format for Milliron Farm using the Distelfink logo because we got the inspiration for the distilfink logo from a hex sign on the side of a barn.

It is a Pennsylvania symbol for good luck and fortune.

Cobalting...

It's hard to believe the tools you have to combat a kiln load of freshly bisqued pots include a tiny bowl of cobalt and an eye-dropper.

 Each letter, logo, and number gets filled with an eye-dropper.

It's a precise (and daunting) process, especially when in a hurry.

 It helps to have your own personal cheerleader sitting behind you cheering you on.

Studio Life

It's still sad to see our little stellar without her mom.

It's hard to get used to.

I can only imagine what she thinks about it.

 Those eggflats don't cut themselves. It's a messy dusty job.

April Showers....rainy rainy days

It's hard to get enthused about going out in it, just looking out the window.

Snow would almost be preferable, if the rain wasn't such a huge sign of Spring.

How can kids find so much fun with such a little puddle? in the rain?
